Dr. Kalpana Merchant has over 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug discovery and development, serving both to develop scientific and business strategies focused on translational science in order to reduce the attrition rate of drug discovery. Her training and deep knowledge are in the areas of neuroscience – neurodegenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease), psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia, major depression, substance abuse) and chronic pain disorders. Dr. Merchant is passionate about improving human health through innovative medications founded on deep understanding of disease biology and biomarkers. She has led the establishment of translational science strategies founded on clinical biological materials, data and information for oncology, metabolic disorders, musculoskeletal disorders and neuroscience.
