F. Gerard Moeller, M.D.

Dr. Moeller received his M.D. from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, completing his residency in psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and his fellowship in Clinical Psychopharmacology at the University of California at San Diego. He is currently Professor of Psychiatry, Pharmacology, and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Moeller is the Director of the Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies and Director of Addiction Medicine and Director of the Center for Clinical and Translational Research and Associate Vice President for Clinical Research at Virginia Commonwealth University.

His research focuses on the translational science of addictions and he is an internationally known expert in the neurobiology of impulsivity and its role in treatment efficacy in addiction. He collaborates with a team that includes basic scientists, behavioral scientists, and clinical trials specialists to develop forward and back-translation of information on the neurobiology of addictions.
