Dr. Noelle Anastasio

Dr. Anastasio received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She specializes in behavioral studies associated with addiction behavior research. Dr. Anastasio’s research interests lie at the interface of pharmacology, neuroscience, and psychiatry. Prevention and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders could be greatly advanced by a more comprehensive understanding of the biology of impulsivity behavior. Her group is focused on deciphering the patterns of individual differences in behavioral associated with drug taking and relapse occurrence. In particular, her laboratory research team has focused on natural chemical compounds found in the brain and how they are effected before, during, and after drug use. Additionally, Dr. Anastasio’s studies could shed light on other compulsive behaviors including binge eating and impulsivity disorders. Dr. Anastasio is currently appointed as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
