Dr. Laezza received her M.D. from the University of Torino, Italy and her Ph.D. from Emory University. As a specialist in molecular and cellular neuroscience and pharmacology, Dr. Laezza draws upon her background in the medical field and psychiatry to make discoveries in the field of mental health.
The research goal of the Laezza laboratory is to advance the understanding and therapies of neuropsychiatric disorders by identifying cellular mechanisms of brain cells that might be mechanistically linked to the biological cause of the disease. Her labs’ research has opened new horizons in central nervous system pharmacology. Dr. Laezza is appointed as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
